What the 5% covers
Most of the fee goes to operating the platform. Identity verification, payment processing, dispute support, and the team that picks up the phone when something goes wrong. The rest funds product work that makes booking faster, clearer, and safer for both sides.
The Founding 50
The first 50 vendors to launch on DayOf get a permanent discount:
- 0% commission on your first $50,000 in bookings
- 3% commission for life after that threshold (vs. 5% standard), locked in even if DayOf's rates change
- A "Founding 50" badge on every listing, profile, and search result

What's never charged
- Sign-up or subscription fees
- Charges for inquiries that don't convert
- Charges for canceled or refunded bookings
- Premium placement or paid ranking
Refunds and cancellations
The 50% deposit a couple pays at booking is non-refundable, period. It transfers to the vendor at the time of booking so they can lock the date. The remaining 50% is auto-charged 14 days before the event. If a couple cancels:
- 6+ months before the event: the final 50% is not charged. The deposit is non-refundable.
- 90 days to 6 months before: 25% of the final is charged. The deposit is non-refundable.
- Under 90 days: the full final is charged. The deposit is non-refundable.
Vendor-side, you receive your payout within 1 to 2 business days of each charge.
Questions about a specific charge
Every booking generates a contract that lists exact amounts, dates, and refund rules. That contract, together with these pricing terms and our Terms of Service, governs the transaction. Email billing@dayofweddings.com if anything looks off.
