How DayOf works
How is DayOf different from other wedding vendor directories?
DayOf is built for easy wedding vendor booking, not browsing and back-and-forth. Instead of inquiry forms, packages, and endless emails, you see vendors who are available, clearly priced, and ready to book. You choose, request to book, and move on with celebrating.
All vendors on DayOf follow the DayOf Standard, which defines clear roles, expectations, and timing for the wedding day.
Why does this feel simpler than other platforms?
Because it is. We're not reinventing the wheel. We're removing the parts of wedding vendor booking that create confusion, slow decisions, and add stress.
The DayOf Standardgives everyone a shared structure, so you don't have to figure things out as you go.
Are we missing something by keeping it this simple?
No. DayOf weddings follow a familiar structure. DayOf is built around what already works, so you don't have to guess or overthink it.
That structure is defined by the DayOf Standard and followed by every vendor on the platform.
Vendors & experience
Are the vendors legitimate?
Yes. Vendors on DayOf meet category-specific standards and do this work regularly. These are professionals who know exactly how a wedding day runs.
Experience and expectations are aligned through the DayOf Standard.
Will we know who's actually showing up on the wedding day?
When you book, you're booking the vendor company. Some vendors work with associate team members who meet the same standards and know how to do the job.
Associate expectations and responsibilities are governed by our Vendor Policies.
What if the vendor has an emergency and can't show up?
Vendors are only allowed to cancel in verified emergency situations. If that happens, the vendor is responsible for finding a suitable replacement or resolving the situation directly with you.
Emergency handling, accountability, and remedies are defined in our Vendor Policies and User Agreement, and aligned with the DayOf Standard.
Booking & communication
Can we talk to a vendor before booking?
Yes, if you want to.
DayOf allows couples to book a secure video call with a vendor before booking. This is optional, not required. Some couples like to talk things through, while others are comfortable booking based on availability, pricing, and the DayOf Standard.
How do pre-booking video calls work?
If a vendor offers pre-booking calls, you can request a secure video meeting directly through DayOf. The meeting link is generated by the platform and only accessible to logged-in users.
For safety and privacy, personal contact information is not shared before booking. Once a booking is confirmed, you'll be able to connect directly with your vendor to finalize details.
This option exists to support confidence, not to add extra steps.
Is booking outside the platform allowed?
No. Vendors discovered through DayOf must be booked through the platform. This keeps pricing consistent, protects both sides, and ensures everyone is working within the DayOf Standard.
This requirement is outlined in our User Agreement.
Why can't we exchange personal contact information before booking?
For safety, consistency, and clarity, DayOf does not permit the exchange of personal contact information before a booking is confirmed.
This protects couples and vendors, and ensures all wedding vendor booking happens through a secure, trusted process. Refer to the User Agreement to learn more.
Pricing & payments
What does “upfront pricing” mean?
It means one upfront price for the wedding day. No packages. No add-ons. No guessing how many hours you need. You hire the vendor, and they show up and do the job.
Upfront pricing is a core part of the DayOf Standard.
How does payment work?
You pay 50% when you book. The remaining 50% is automatically charged 14 days before the wedding. All wedding vendor booking payments are handled securely through the platform.
Are there hidden fees or surprise costs as we continue with wedding planning?
No. The price you see is the price for the wedding day. There are no required add-ons or surprise charges later.
This clarity is intentional and reinforced by the DayOf Standard.
Cancellations & changes
What happens if we need to cancel?
If you cancel more than 6 months before the wedding, the second payment is not charged.
If you cancel between 6 months and 90 days before, 25% of the remaining balance is due.
If you cancel within 90 days of the wedding, the remaining balance is due in full.
The initial 50% payment is non-refundable.
These terms are outlined in our User Agreement and are part of the DayOf Standard so expectations are clear before booking.
Why is there a cancellation policy?
When you book a vendor, you're reserving their time for your date. That date can't easily be rebooked, and the policy reflects that commitment.
The DayOf Standard sets expectations, and the legal details are governed by our User Agreement.
Can we reschedule instead of canceling?
Rescheduling is treated as a cancellation and rebooking. Availability isn't guaranteed, and vendors aren't required to honor date changes.
This policy protects vendor availability and the integrity of the DayOf Standard and is defined in our User Agreement.
Fit & expectations
Is DayOf right for every couple?
DayOf is best for couples who want a wedding that follows a familiar structure and don't want to spend months comparing packages or customizing every detail.
The DayOf Standard is designed for weddings that work - not ones that require constant decision-making.
What if we realize later that we want more coverage or extras?
DayOf is intentionally simple. If you're looking for a highly customized or expanded experience, this platform may not be the right fit (and that's okay).
Does guest count affect pricing?
No. Pricing is based on the wedding day, not headcount. Vendors are prepared to handle a typical range of guest sizes under the DayOf Standard.
What if our timeline shifts on the wedding day?
Vendors expect normal timeline adjustments. As long as the scope stays within the DayOf Standard, small changes aren't an issue.
Platform rules
Can we book more than one vendor in the same category?
No. You can book one vendor per category (for example, one photographer or one DJ). This keeps expectations clear and avoids overlap on the wedding day.
Can we book a vendor we found on DayOf outside the platform?
No. Vendors discovered through DayOf must be booked through the platform. This protects both sides and keeps wedding vendor booking consistent and transparent.
Safety & professionalism
What's expected of us on the wedding day?
Couples agree to provide a safe, respectful, and non-discriminatory working environment. Vendors are professionals who know what to do - you don't need to manage them.
This expectation is defined in the User Agreement and supported by the DayOf Standard.
Photos, video & content
Who owns the photos or videos after the wedding?
Vendors retain ownership of their work. Any usage rights are governed by the vendor's terms. DayOf does not claim ownership of your wedding content.
Ownership and usage rights are detailed in our Vendor Policies and User Agreement.
Looking ahead
What about the other wedding vendors?
We're working on it.
Right now, DayOf focuses on the vendors that have the biggest impact on how your wedding day actually runs - the ones responsible for timing, flow, and coverage.
Our vision is a future where couples can manage all of their wedding vendor booking in one place. We're expanding carefully so the experience stays simple, clear, and reliable.
